Seminis 39002

An early maturing Hybrid, 39002 has shown consistent results over the trials we have viewed for the last couple of years. Improved size consistency, and a good firmness are two of the standout features we have seen following a number of small commercial field trials.

39002 should provide a good option for a machine harvestable early onion, that has some storage potential.

Due to the varieties strong plant vigour 39002 can be sown later than

the usual open pollinated early brown Onion varieties.

Kiwigold

Early Longkeeper Type with slightly earlier maturity and excellent firmness. Long storage onion with excellent shipping potential.

Uniform globe shape with very good skin quality. Kiwigold has been a very reliable performer over many years

.

Octane

A high yielding hybrid with approximate ELK maturity. Very uniform bulb size with excellent skins and attractive colour. Has a high yield potential.

Late sowing is essential to realise the full potential of Octane.  Total and input and time costs for growing Octane may be less than conventional ELK varieties.

Perez

A recent hybrid introduction offering early season maturity from a sowing timeframe (North Island) of July to Mid August. Essentially, Perez offers three benefits-uniformity, yield and pack out advantage, and cost savings. Perez maturity is similar to Early Long Keeper.

The Perez bulb is typically more globe shaped across the entire size range meaning fewer culls from the grading table and a more marketable product going to both export and local market bags. With comparatively four to eight weeks less growing time than ELK, some savings in herbicide and fungicide (White Rot) costs can be achieved, not to mention savings of application costs and time. Total input and time

costs for growing Perez may be less than conventional ELK varieties.

Red Emperor

Despite being a relative newcomer for onion growers, Red Emperor is now established as a preferred variety in many Red Onion production programmes.

Maturity is typically about mid January from early August sowing. Red Emperor seems as robust as any other variety against typical onion pathogens.

Bulbs are slightly flattened globes, and of consistent size and shape. The cosmetic appearance factor is high with tight scales of deep red colouration, matched by strong colouration of the internal rings.

To date export shipments of Red Emperor onions have been successful.

Red Keep

Excellent yields and quality typify this open pollinated storage variety with Pukekohe Longkeeper bloodlines. Red Keep typically displays superior resistance to bolting compared with most red varieties in this timeframe. Five to six months shed storage is possible with Red Keep. Proven as suitable for export shipping

Red Queenred queen

(Formerly trialed as 27002) - an early- mid season red hybrid that is flat globe shaped with good internal and external colour, it has excellent vigour and produces a high percentage of large bulbs that are ideally suited for peeling. Suitable for export to South East Asia and Pacific Rim markets. Intermediate resistance to Fusarium basal rot.

Waikato

Waikato is a mid to late season New Zealand adapted Pukekohe Longkeeper hybrid. It has excellent storage with a shorter growing time frame than typical Longkeeper lines, and is well suited for export.

Seminis May and Ryan Early Longkeeper

The market standard for early to mid season export onion production.  Brown skinned, globe shaped onion with excellent bolting tolerance. Excellent shipper with 8 months storage potential.

Seminis May and Ryan Regular Longkeeper

Bred in from the original Turbot Pukekohe strain from 1953. Industry standard, suits mid to late season export storage production with 8-9 months storage potential. The original longkeeper onion.
